Make Money With Plastic Bottles: 6 Proven Ways
Can
you really make money with plastic bottles? My girlfriend once told me, on stepping
into Ibadan, that Ibadan is a dirty place compared to Akure. That got me
thinking until recently when it occurred to me that that in itself is a
business idea.
Now
if you are acquainted with business, you will realize that business idea don’t always
come when you sit down and designate a time to think up one. It just jumps into
your thought when you are doing something, or probably nothing, or as a result
of a happening or a situation.
That’s
a bonus for you. Don’t thank me. What are friends for?
So,
I went on to think of things that one can use plastic bottles for, and make
cool cash, instead of merely throwing them into the recycling bin or on the
ground. And I came up with a few ideas. Ready to launch? Let’s do this.
6 proven ways to make
money with Plastic Bottles
Collect bottles
You
could get kids or wondering children to get them for you in exchange for a
token. You could also get them by yourself, or talk to shop owners to keep used
bottles for you, then get them every weekend.
Sell to a Recycling buyer
Look
for a recycling buyer that purchases plastic bottles in bulk, or people who
might be interested in them. Negotiate with them on how much you get for
supplying a certain quantity.
Mini Garden
Make
a mini garden out of the plastic bottles. While this won't be a fast way to make
money, it can be a long-lasting one. Plant small herbs in the bottles and pinch
off the results into small baggies. Sell fresh spices and herbs at markets, and
then replenish your supply as it continues to grow.
Storage
More
than 90% of these plastic
bottles are mainly used for reselling locally
made beverages such as Kunu Zaki, Zobo, Kunu
Aya (made from tiger nut), Fura-da-Nunu (made
from cow milk), insecticides and local roots
popularly called Agbo in Yoruba. While going
around picking these dirty plastic bottles by
scavengers seem dirty, dirty money doesn’t smell when it comes to buying food and other essentials in the market; it is a survival strategy.
Decoration and Designs
Most of the plastic
bottles thrown away are useful craft materials that no one thinks about. If you
are creative and inclined to designs and art, your perspective of it will
invariably change. You will their use in decorating your sitting room, bedroom,
kitchen, hall and even backyard. And definitely, you can commercialize it and
make money from it.
Home Equipment
From plastic bottles, you can make home
equipment such as broom, cups, containers, etc. And if you are good at it you
could change its entire look that one would doubt if it is a plastic bottle.
